Hastings Caves The Hastings Caves State Reserve offers visitors a variety of experiences, from relaxing in the warm waters of a thermal springs pool, walking in the rich forests of the reserve and, of course, the unique experience of exploring Newdegate Cave. Both the thermal pool and the trail which leads through the surrounding forests are accessible to wheelchair users. Hartz Mountains National Park Hartz Mountains National Park is a window into the south-west wilderness, offering views of remote mountain ranges as far as the southern coast. As well as spectacular views of a landscape which has been shaped by glaciers during past ice ages, the park offers a variety of unique features. Waterfalls tumble off the dolerite range that runs through the centre of the park and small glacial lakes dot the plateau. Ida Bay Railway Relax and take in the beautiful scenery and white beaches on Australia's most southern railway. Cockle Creek Experience a number of excellent walks from Cockle Creek, sheltered among the tranquil coves of Recherche Bay, A short stroll around the foreshore takes you to a whale sculpture and interpretation sign explaining the bay’s whaling history. One side of the creek is ‘Recherche Bay Nature Recreation Area’ and the other is the ‘Southwest National Park’ – all managed by Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service. Cockle Creek is the southern entry point to Southwest National Park, part of Tasmania’s Wilderness World Heritage Area.
